Abstract:

This monograph compiles the information known to 1928 for the bat genera Myotis and Pizonyx of the Americas. From North America the authors listed "no less than" 4,504 specimens, "representing 34 forms." For South America, they were able to examine 970 specimens, which they believe represented 12 forms. They also believe that the 5,474 specimens they viewed were "practically all" of the American materials that were then available in the larger museums of the continent and include "a very important series of South American specimens lent by the British Museum." Descriptions and measurements are provided, as well as a list of specimens by species and locale. (Note that Barry Keller of Idaho State University obtained some of his museum information for Idaho from this source, which unfortunately doesn't include collection/observation dates or collector/observer names with the information it lists for each specimen.)

This is a book-like monograph, and I'd intended to use the Book pub type, but the fields wouldn't work quite right so also experimented with using the Journal Article form. Whatever the final outcome is, I've left the B in the SA code.
