Abstract:

Keys and illustrations are provided for the adults of 97 species of Limnephilus, two of which are known only from the female. Four new species (alagnaki, baja, bloomfieldi, rhea) are described. One new name (fischeri for elongatus Banks), 13 new junior synonyms (acrocurvus Denning of dispar MacLachlan, alvatus Denning of tarsalis [Banks], chavas Nimmo of taloga Ross, chilcotinensis Nimmo of rhombicus [Linnaeus], gioia Denning and valhalla Nimmo of moestus Banks, loloensis Smith of cockerelli Banks, neoacula Denning of productus Banks, saltus Denning of fagus Ross, selatus Denning of indivisus Walker, susana Nimmo of sackeni Banks, vernalis Nimmo of argenteus Banks, whiteheadi Nimmo of occidentalis Banks), and 4 new combinations (female species 2 Nimmo 1971 = thorus Ross, female species 3 Nimmo 1971 = dispar MacLachlan, female species 2 Nimmo 1977 = femoralis Kirby, innuitorum Nimmo = Asynarchus) are proposed. Three species previously known only from female types are herein associated and become senior synonyms for four species (concolor Banks for cerus Ross and Spencer and lunonus Ross, bifidus Banks for insularis Schmid, solidus (Hagen) for toussainti Banks).
